Julie Schwartz
Julie      is      currently      a      member      of      THE      BLACK      BAG TM    Core      team     and   is         in         charge         of         THE         BLACK         BAG TM          Portable         Office         and        Toolkit.         Julie   received      a      Bachelor      of      Science      in      Health      Education and   Health   Promotion   from      the      University      of   Florida      and      a      Master     of      Science      in      Sports      Nutrition      from      Georgia      State   University.      In addition   to   her   work   with   THE   BLACK   BAG TM,    she   is   the   founder   of Balanced   Nutrition   Coach TM,    coaching   clients   focusing   on   plant   based nutrition,   active   lifestyle,   fueling   sport,   sustainable   weight   loss,   and disease prevention. In    addition    to    individual    clients,    Julie    consults    with    several companies     including     the     Department     of     Defense-U.S.     Air     Force providing   programs   for   the   prevention   and   treatment   of   overweight and   obesity   throughout   the   life   cycle.   Julie   combines   her   training   as   a wellness   coach   with   her   expertise   in   nutrition   and   exercise   to   offer   a fresh    language    and    approach    to    weight    management    emphasizing client   driven,   systematic,   doable   steps   which   builds   confidence   and sustainability. She   has   been   an   invited   speaker   at   national   symposium   and conferences,    as    well    as    presenting    workshops    on    topics    including Wellness    Coaching    and    Motivational    Interviewing,    the    Healthy    Start Healthy   Weigh   Coaching   for   Clients   with   Overweight   and   Obesity,   The Coach   Approach   and   Weight   Management,   Exercise   Is   Medicine   and the   RD,   Bariatric   Nutrition   and   Wellness   Coaching.   Julie   has   been   a faculty   facilitator   for   the   CDR   Certificate   of   Training   in   Adult   Weight Management    Level    1    &    2    as    well    as    CDR    Certificate    of    Training    in Childhood   and   Adolescent   Weight   Management   primarily   co-leading small   groups   in   MI   and   counseling   skill   development.   Julie   provided yearly    workshops    on    Wellness    Coaching    and    Obesity    and    Weight Management   for   the   Morrison   Chartwells   Distance   Dietetic   Internship, Georgia     State,     Emory,     and     Southern     Regional     Hospital     Dietetic Internship.
Julie      has      made      numerous      contributions      to      the      field      of     nutrition,   physical      activity,      and      health   promotion.      She      co-authored     The      Physical      Activity   Toolkit      for      the      Registered      Dietitian:      Utilizing     Exercise      is      Medicine TM    and      has   written      multiple      articles      on      topics     ranging      from   bariatric   surgery   to   wellness      coaching      and   behavior change.    She            participated            in            the            CDR            Interdisciplinary          Certification         in   Obesity      and      Weight      Management      Practice      Analysis     Task      Force      from   2014         to         2015         and         continues         to         sit         on         the        CDR         Interdisciplinary   Certification      in     Obesity        and        Weight        Management      Subject        Matter        Expert    and            Exam          Development         Committee         and         CDR        Specialty         Certification   Review         Panel.        She         currently         serves         as         a         delegate        to         the         House         of   Delegates   of   the Academy   of   Nutrition   and   Dietetics   and has        held        numerous        leadership positions for the past 15 years. Julie    provides    health    promotion    and    wellness    programs    to corporations   including   Atlanta   Health   Systems,   Turning   Point   Women’s Healthcare,    Crawford    &    Company,    Coventry    Healthcare    of    Georgia, Ford   Motor   Assembly   Plant   Atlanta,   State   of   Georgia   School   Nutrition Program,    North    American    Mission    Board,    and    consulted    as    the Research Dietitian for Radiant Research of Atlanta. Julie   has   shared   her   expertise   in   nutrition   &   health   promotion with    numerous    guest    appearances    on    CNN    Headline    News    and Affiliates,   The   Today   Show,   Atlanta   Local   Channel   2   &   Channel   11,   The Weather   Channel,   WebMD,   RealTV,   and   served   as   the   RDN   coach   for the   2009   Get   Fit   Challenge   WSB   Channel   2   Atlanta.   She   has   authored numerous   articles   and   serves   as   the   nutrition   and   lifestyle   expert   for several    national    journalists.    Her    broad    background    makes    her    the perfect   leader   of   THE   BLACK   BAG TM    Portable   Office   and   Toolkit   for dietitians.    Her    expertise    and    training    in    weight    management    and sports    nutrition.    guides    the    development    of    THE    BLACK    BAG TM     to enhance     the     practice     of     RDNs     collaborating     with     other     health professionals.
